About SGW Dumpster Rental Saginaw — the crew outside the office, running roll-off routes across Saginaw County

SGW Dumpster Rental, across Saginaw County

SGW Dumpster Rental Saginaw is a locally owned and operated roll-off container business working across Saginaw County, Michigan. We run five sizes, from a 10 yard box built for dense material up to a 40 yard built for bulk, and we deliver them to seventeen communities in the county: the City of Saginaw, twelve townships, two other cities and two villages.

The thing that makes this site different from most of what you will find when you search is narrower than a sales pitch. We quote rules by section number when we have read the section, and we say we could not find one when we have not. That sounds like a small distinction. In this county it is not, because the City of Saginaw has written down, in an ordinance anyone can open and read, exactly which categories of material its collection will not pick up, while the twenty-nine other county subdivisions around it have rules we were not able to establish at all.

So this site does two things at once. It cites City Code § 50.06 and § 50.05 in full detail, with the ordinance number and date the chapter is current through, because that is genuinely useful to anybody inside the City line. And it refuses to pretend the same rules govern an address in Bridgeport, Thomas Township or the Village of St. Charles, because we have no evidence that they do.

The same discipline applies to our own address and to our own competence. 3102 Sawyer Dr, Saginaw, MI 48601 is a postal address. Like a great many addresses that read Saginaw, it may or may not sit inside the City of Saginaw, and we have not been able to establish which from public records. We are not going to guess on our own behalf any more than we would on yours. And where a question needs a professional who can stand on the ground and look at it, we will say so and give you the office to call rather than inventing an answer that sounds confident.

By the numbers

Four figures worth knowing before you call

  • 11Subsections of City Code § 50.06 naming material the City's collection will not take
  • 30County subdivisions in Saginaw County: three cities and twenty-seven townships
  • 34Member communities of the Mid Michigan Waste Authority, which this area belongs to
  • 17Saginaw County communities with a page here, each labeled by the kind of government it is

None of these are figures about our own operation. The subsection count is from City Code § 50.06 as codified, the subdivision count and the populations behind it from the US Census Bureau, the membership figure from the Mid Michigan Waste Authority, and the last one is simply how many communities have a page on this site.

Why an ordinance section number belongs on a dumpster site

Most pages about dumpster rental say some version of we take almost everything, and then list a few obvious exclusions. That tells you nothing about your own pile, and it tells you nothing about why you needed a container in the first place.

In the City of Saginaw there is a better answer available, and it is written down. § 50.06 of the City Code is titled materials not to be collected, and it runs to eleven subsections. Two of them do nearly all the work. § 50.06(C) covers stones, bricks, plaster, shingles, lumber, demolition materials, building materials, concrete, sand, gravel, and earth. § 50.06(I) covers material resulting from contract work, with landscaping, tree trimming, construction or demolition, or work done by utility companies given as the examples.

Read those two subsections together and they describe almost everything a person rents a container for. That is the honest reason this business exists inside the City line, and it is a reason you can verify in about ninety seconds rather than take on trust.

One thing the ordinance does not do, and we will not claim otherwise: it does not require anybody to rent anything. It states what the City will not collect. What you do about that is entirely your decision, and hiring a container is only one of the options. We would rather say that plainly than let an implication do the selling.

A mailing address is not a government, and that includes ours

Saginaw County has thirty county subdivisions: three cities and twenty-seven townships. Five villages sit inside townships on top of that, which means a village address has two governments over it at the same time. None of this is visible from an envelope.

Two addresses can both read Saginaw, MI 48601 and sit in different jurisdictions. Saginaw Charter Township had 41,679 residents at the 2020 Census against the City of Saginaw's 44,202, it is an entirely separate government, and a great deal of its mail says Saginaw. So when somebody asks whether the City's container rules apply to them, the first honest question back is not about the rules. It is about which government they are actually in, and the answer is not on their mail.

We apply the same standard to ourselves, which is the part competitors will not copy. Our address is 3102 Sawyer Dr, Saginaw, MI 48601. That is a postal address. We have not been able to establish from public records which government it sits in, so we do not say we are in the City of Saginaw and we do not name a township either. We simply do not know, and a business that will not guess about its own street is less likely to guess about yours.

If you want to check your own address, your township or village office will tell you, and the Census figures we quote here come from the Bureau’s own published tables.

Who you are actually calling

SGW Dumpster Rental Saginaw is owned by Dale Verhoeven and is locally owned and operated. That is the whole of the biography, deliberately. You will not find a founding year, a staff count or a fleet figure anywhere on this site, because those are things a reader cannot verify and we would rather spend the space on things they can.

What you can rely on is the shape of the service. It is call-only. Pick up the phone on (989) 272-9034, describe the job, and the conversation covers four things: what the material is, how much of it there is, where the container is going to stand, and how the truck gets to that spot. From those four answers the size question usually settles itself. There is no quote form to fill in, no booking screen and no account to create.

On timing, we will tell you what the schedule looks like when you call rather than making a promise on a web page. Call and ask what the board looks like today, and you will get the real answer for that day. If the honest answer is that the job wants two loads, or a smaller container than you expected, or a conversation with your township before anything is delivered, you will get that instead of a confirmation you did not need.

What we are not qualified to tell you

There are questions we get asked that we will not answer, and it is better to list them here than to dodge them on the phone.

We are not qualified to assess the ground at any address, including yours. What we can tell you is the surface behavior anybody working here learns: firm, dry ground carries a loaded container, and ground softened by a wet week or moving through freeze and thaw does not. Plywood under the wheels and under both rails spreads the load and is a great deal less trouble than a repair. Beyond that, a driveway is a question for somebody who can stand on it.

We also publish no separation distance between a container and a building, because we could not find a sourced one for this market and the code picture here is genuinely unusual. Michigan's statewide rule adopts NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code, 2006 edition, under Mich. Admin. Code R 29.1652, and R 29.1651 switches that off wherever a local jurisdiction has adopted a nationally recognized fire prevention code. The City of Saginaw enforces the 2024 International Fire Code under Code § 92.30(A)(1). Saginaw Charter Township enforces the 2018 edition. For Buena Vista Charter Township we could not find which code is in force. Three answers within a few miles of each other, so we send you to the fire department with jurisdiction and we do not pretend to determine compliance for anybody.

What we stand on

The things we will not trade away

  • We name the section, or we say we could not find one

Every rule quoted on this site carries its section number, so you can check it. City Code § 50.06(C), § 50.06(I), § 50.05 and § 94.068 are all real, all readable and all current through Ordinance O-274, effective 2 October 2025. Where we looked for a rule and could not find it, the page says so in those words. We could not find one is not the same statement as there is none, and we do not let the first quietly become the second.

  • The claim stops where the evidence stops

The City's refuse ordinance governs the City of Saginaw. It does not govern Saginaw Charter Township, which is a separate government of 41,679 people, and it does not govern the other fifteen communities we serve. Our location pages give you the county, the kind of government, the 2020 Census population and a straight-line distance, and then they stop and send you to the township or village office. A wider claim would be easier to write and worth nothing to you.

  • The smaller container is often the right answer

A loaded roll-off has to be lifted and driven on a public road, which puts a ceiling on weight that no amount of extra height changes. Dense material reaches that ceiling with the box part empty. So when you describe concrete, tile, soil or a roof tear-off, we will steer you to a small container filled part way rather than a big one you cannot fill. Sizing you up when the physics says down is not service.

  • A phone number, and a person at the end of it

Everything here runs through the phone. There is no quote form, no booking screen and no account to create. Tell us the material, the address and the approach to the driveway, and you will get a straight answer, including the answer that the job needs two loads or a different size than the one you called about.

Residential Dumpster Rental

A container on your own driveway for a cleanout municipal collection was never built to take. In the City of Saginaw § 50.05 caps a household at 35 gallons, 50 pounds and 20 bags a week; outside the City we could not establish the local limit.

Answers

About SGW Dumpster Rental — common questions

Who owns SGW Dumpster Rental Saginaw?

Dale Verhoeven. The business is locally owned and operated, working across Saginaw County from a yard on Sawyer Dr. We do not publish a founding date, a staff number or a container count, because none of those are things you could check, and this site tries to stick to things you can.

Why does this site quote section numbers instead of just saying what you take?

Because a section number can be checked and a general claim cannot. City Code § 50.06 names eleven categories of material the City's collection will not take, and two of those categories cover nearly every reason a household rents a container. Pointing you at the text is more useful than telling you to trust us, and it is honest about where the rule actually comes from.

Why will you not publish the rules for my township?

Because we could not establish them. For the sixteen communities on this site that are not the City of Saginaw, we were able to confirm the county, the kind of government, the 2020 Census population and a straight-line distance, and nothing further. We could not find a container or refuse rule for them, which is not the same as there being none. Call the township or village office and they will tell you.

Where are you based?

3102 Sawyer Dr, Saginaw, MI 48601. That is a postal address and nothing more. Like a great many addresses that read Saginaw, it may or may not sit inside the City of Saginaw, and we have not been able to establish which from public records, so we do not claim a jurisdiction for our own street any more than we would guess at one for yours.

Service area

The seventeen communities on our list, by type of government

We run containers out of 3102 Sawyer Dr to seventeen communities in Saginaw County. They are grouped below by what kind of government each one actually is, because in Michigan that is the difference between a city hall, a township board and a village that sits inside a township — and it decides who you have to call about your own address. If yours is not listed, call anyway; we most likely still get there.

The city

The only jurisdiction in this list whose refuse rules we were able to read and quote.

Townships

A township board, not a city hall. We could not establish container or refuse rules for any of these, and we do not publish ones we could not read.

Other incorporated places

Two cities and two villages. A village sits inside its township, so a village address has two governments over it at once.
